The central idea of Carbon Magazine was to make science literature accessible to consumers. The magazine itself consists of 8 articles each focusing on a different topic in science. Some of the articles are just a quote and some go into more detail. The idea of each article is to provide an accessible amount of information for readers to decide if they have a further interest in the topic. If that is the case then there is a literature list which will guide readers to a book or more detailed literature which focuses on that topic.

The design of Carbon Magazine is such that it follows no structure between articles. Each article is designed separately where the design reflects the chosen topic.
